The goal of Highlands Summerville's dress code is to foster academic focus and a feeling of dignity and belonging to each student.

Neatness in outer dress and appearance reflects inner focus and discipline.

HLS logos are optional for tops and sweaters.

We understand wear and tear, but please, no holes in the uniform.

No athletic clothing, denim or hats are permitted.

Girls

• Bottoms:

  Gray, khaki, or navy*:  Pants, bermuda shorts, or skorts.  Also skirts, polo dresses, and jumpers with a hem no higher than 4 inches above the knee. 
  Girls who wear skirts, polo dresses, or jumpers need to wear shorts underneath.
  Pants must not be tight fitted like jeggings. 
  NO cargo shorts or cargo pants. 

  (*Girls in Pre-K to 2nd may wear "navy houndstooth" skirts or jumpers.)
  
• Dark belts must be worn if there are belt loops starting in 1st grade.
  
• Tops:
  

  Long or short sleeved shirts must have collars (polos, oxford, Peter Pans Collars).  Colors may be white, powder blue, navy or gray.  Shirts must be tucked in.

• Shoes: Must be closed toes.  Please avoid bright colors.

• Socks, Tights, Leggings: Solid gray, white, or navy colors.

• Sweaters: Solid gray, white, or navy colors.
  

• Hair accessories:  must be plaid, navy, white, or gray.
  
• Jewelry: Simple stud earrings, necklaces with one charm or medal, and watches are allowed.  No charm bracelets or little rubbery things.

Boys

• Bottoms:  Gray, khaki, or navy pants or shorts.  Starting in 1st grade, bottoms must have belt loops. NO cargo shorts or cargo pants. 
• Dark belts must be worn starting in 1st grade. 
• Tops: Long or short sleeved polo or oxford shirts. Colors may be navy, light blue, gray, or white.  Shirts must be tucked in.
• Shoes:  Must be closed toes.  Please avoid bright colors.
• Socks,Leggings, or Visible Long Underwear: Solid gray, white, or navy colors.
• Sweaters: If worn indoors, must be a solid color with no logos, emblems, or messages written on them. Navy or gray.
• Jewelry: Only watches and religious medals are allowed for boys.
